United Road Safety Foundation is a NGO led under the guidance of Kaushik Shinde. He is veteran rally driver and 2x National Rally Winner & 6x Autocross Winner. Kaushik Shinde is also India’s First International Advanced Driving Trainer for Road Safety and has performed many training programs for National & International Clients. The objective of the NGO is to reduce accidents on Indian roads by conducting awareness programs, full length training programs as well as through advocacy.
URSF is driven by a team of highly educated and passionate road safety enthusiasts with expertise in advanced driving techniques and safety training. Dedicated to transforming driving education in India, our team is committed to creating a safer future on Indian roads.
We are concerned with the development of one major aspect above everything else: The Driver. Theory is grey matter and therefore we make sure that our training is delivered personally to each instructor in colour. At Prodrive Advanced Driving Academy, a training department run under URSF, the main focus has always been about practice– right from the very first step. The overriding principle at Prodrive Academy is ‘Learning by Doing’ - practically working through whatever is taught in the theory sessions during the course of the program. In this way, one can not only gain vast knowledge but also hone their driving skills with practice.
To make Indian roads safer by elevating the standards of education and advanced driving techniques, through skillfully well - trained instructors.
The vision of URSF is to create an ecosystem where every driving instructor is fully trained in modern driving methodologies, thereby reducing fatal road accidents. By ensuring high-quality driving education and training, URSF aims to establish a network of skilled instructors who can pass on this knowledge and skill to thousands of drivers across the country.
This initiative aligns with the broader National Road Safety goal which is to achieve a significant reduction in fatalities caused due to road accidents .
To educate, train and certify driving instructors in road safety and advanced driving techniques.
To integrate the best International practices in skill-based and behavior-based defensive driving training.
To create a sustainable impact on road safety through skilled instructors who can educate and train thousands of drivers annually.
To unite and create a nationwide network of road safety stakeholders like government agencies, corporates, driving schools and driving school associations.
URSF’s mission is to bridge the gap between traditional driving techniques and modern road safety education and skills.
In a country like India, where road traffic is dense, unpredictable, and often unsafe, basic driving skills are not enough. While most drivers are trained only to pass the licensing test, very few are equipped to handle real-world challenges such as sudden obstacles, high-speed emergencies, poor visibility, or reckless drivers around them. Advanced Driving Training (ADT) fills this critical gap by preparing drivers to think ahead, stay alert, and react safely under pressure.
India records over 150,000 road fatalities each year—the highest in the world. Many of these are caused not by vehicle failure or road conditions, but by human error, poor judgement, and lack of driver training beyond the basics.
Traditional driving schools focus on gear handling and parking, with little or no training in risk anticipation, hazard response, or emergency handling. ADT introduces real-world techniques like emergency braking, skid control, lane discipline, and situational awareness.
As more people drive high-performance vehicles, the margin for error has reduced. Advanced training ensures that drivers can handle speed responsibly and maintain control under various road conditions.
Companies with fleet operations face huge risks due to driver negligence. ADT significantly reduces accident rates, operational costs, and insurance claims.
Advanced Driving Training is not a luxury—it's a life-saving necessity.
It empowers drivers with the skills, mindset, and responsibility needed for today’s roads. As India moves towards safer mobility, initiatives like ADT must become a part of mainstream driver education to protect lives and promote a culture of safety.
